LANDSCAPING AND TENANT RESPONSIBILITY s.sdcpm.com/landscape

We recommend that the landlord not tenant is made responsible for tree cutting. Cutting the grass, bushes and weeding, however, can be assigned to the tenant

Our attorneys KTS advise

Although landlords would prefer to pass on tree trimming costs and responsibility to tenants, the better option may be for the landlord to take on this responsibility and build the cost into the rent.  The landlord is more likely to trim the trees when and how they want, and then they also control who is hired (preferably someone with a contractor’s license and insurance)
